Greece is much more than a patient. She is a loving mother, a devoted sister and a being of light whose smile has the power to captivate all the hearts she touches. Her life has been a journey full of challenges, but her unbreakable spirit and desire to help others have guided her through adversity.

Greece recently faced a tough test on its way. A silent disease, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, caused by a pulmonary thromboembolism, changed her life and fragmented it. Clots in the peripheries of her lungs have left her fighting for every breath, while the acute impact of the thromboembolism has caused an increase in the size of her heart, specifically on the right side.

Today, Greece depends on oxygen 24 hours a day, unable to perform physical exertion due to right heart failure and an obstruction in her lungs due to clots. Her life was on the brink during more than a month of hospitalization.  Right now, we are faced with an overwhelming reality. Greece’s forecast is measured in years, and those years are few. But there is a ray of hope on the horizon. A medical team at San Diego Hospital, California, La Jolla, is offering the possibility of a surgery that could change the course of her life, giving her back the ability to breathe and live freely. This is a race against time. Every day she counts. We are determined to do everything in our power to raise the funds needed for the surgery that could save Grecia’s life and restore her bright smile.
