Greece is much more than a patient. She is a loving mother, a devoted sister and a being of light whose smile has the power to captivate all the hearts she touches. Her life has been a journey full of challenges, but her unbreakable spirit and desire to help others have guided her through adversity.
Greece recently faced a tough test on its way. A silent disease, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, caused by a pulmonary thromboembolism, changed her life and fragmented it. Clots in the peripheries of her lungs have left her fighting for every breath, while the acute impact of the thromboembolism has caused an increase in the size of her heart, specifically on the right side.
Today, Greece depends on oxygen 24 hours a day, unable to perform physical exertion due to right heart failure and an obstruction in her lungs due to clots. Her life was on the brink during more than a month of hospitalization.  Right now, we are faced with an overwhelming reality. Greece’s forecast is measured in years, and those years are few. But there is a ray of hope on the horizon. A medical team at San Diego Hospital, California, La Jolla, is offering the possibility of a surgery that could change the course of her life, giving her back the ability to breathe and live freely. This is a race against time. Every day she counts. We are determined to do everything in our power to raise the funds needed for the surgery that could save Grecia’s life and restore her bright smile. Together, we can be her strength, her support, and her hope. We invite you to be part of this mission, to donate generously and to share this story with your friends and family. Every small contribution brings us one step closer to giving Greece back the joy of life and giving its children the mother they deserve. Let us never underestimate the power of human compassion and generosity. Together, we can make the miracle possible. Let us accompany Greece on its journey towards healing and hope.
Thank you for being part of this incredible story of love and survival!

My name is, Grecia Silerio

I Have Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)

I am 32 years old, I live in the city of Durango, Mexico. I am a lawyer by profession and in the month of May I had a pulmonary thromboembolism that triggered Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH).

How can you save my life?

With open heart surgery.

UC San Diego Health is the world leader in pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgery to remove chronic blood clots from major blood vessels in the lungs.

These deadly blockages hinder your ability to breathe due to a rare complication called chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Our specialists are trained in this life-saving PTE surgery to clear the arteries in the lungs.

Sometimes chronic blood clots cannot be treated with medications. Without treatment, these clots block blood flow to the lungs, causing vascular damage and pulmonary hypertension. This condition can lead to heart failure and death.

That’s when PTE can help by removing clots and restoring blood flow. PTE, a complex surgery also known as pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA), was developed at UC San Diego Health.
